Privacy Policy for Houseboard

Rafael Chiquin ("I", "me", or "my") operates the Houseboard application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information. The short version: Houseboard has no server and no accounts. Your board stays on your device and syncs only through your own iCloud.

1. Information Collection and Use

I do not collect, store, or sell any personally identifiable information or usage data. The App does not ask you to create an account or log in to me, and there is no Houseboard server that receives your content.

2. Your Board

The names you enter for your household, your chores, schedules, routines, points, and rewards are stored on your device in the App's own storage, which the App's widgets also read. When you are signed in to iCloud, this data is backed up and synced to your other devices through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), using encrypted fields. This data is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy terms and is not accessible to me.

3. Sharing With Your Family

If you choose to invite family members, the App uses Apple's iCloud sharing. People you invite can see and edit the shared board. Invitations are sent by you through Messages, Mail, or another method you choose. You can stop sharing, or leave a shared board, at any time in the App.

4. Calendar

If you turn on the calendar option, the App asks for access to your calendars and adds events, such as bin nights and chores, to the calendar you pick. The App reads only the events it created so it can keep them up to date. Calendar data stays on your device and in your calendar account; it is never sent to me. You can turn this off at any time, which removes the events the App added.

5. Notifications, Live Activities, and Siri

Appliance timer reminders are scheduled locally on your device. Live Activities and widgets are drawn on your device from the App's local data. Siri and Shortcuts requests are handled by Apple and the App on your device. Chore names may be added to your device's Spotlight index so you can search for them; this index stays on your device.

6. Third-Party Services and Tracking

The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. I do not monitor your behavior, track your usage across other apps, or sell information to anyone.

7. Purchases

The App is purchased through the App Store. Apple processes payment under Apple's privacy terms, and I do not receive or store your payment details.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for families and is set up by a parent or guardian. Children do not need their own account or device to appear on the board. Because the App does not collect personal data, I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. I will post the new policy on this page and update the "Effective Date" above.
